Pakistan Dismisses Trump’s Gaza Takeover Proposal

ISLAMABAD:On Thursday, Pakistan joined a growing list of nations condemning President Donald Trump’s proposal to take control of Gaza, a region that should remain part of a future Palestinian state.

During a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Trump unveiled his controversial plan, marking a significant departure from the U.S.’s long-standing support for a two-state solution. The proposal came as a shock, even to American analysts, who called it a “head-spinning” idea.

The Pakistani government expressed strong opposition to the plan, stating that it would unjustly displace Gaza’s population. In a statement from the Foreign Office, Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to the Palestinian cause, calling for a two-state solution in line with UN Security Council resolutions.

Pakistan stressed that any attempt to displace Palestinians or continue illegal settlements would be a violation of international law, risking the region’s peace and security. It also called for the return of displaced Palestinians and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied territories.

“Pakistan’s support for Palestine has been steadfast from the time of our founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah,” said a government spokesperson, highlighting the nation’s unwavering position.

The spokesperson also condemned Israel’s restrictions on humanitarian aid entering Gaza, which violates ceasefire agreements, and called on the international community to hold Israel accountable for its actions. He urged global efforts to ensure the ceasefire is honored and that Israel faces consequences for its war crimes.

Additionally, the spokesperson provided updates on Pakistan’s cooperation with the U.S. regarding the deportation of illegal migrants, the safety of Chinese personnel in Pakistan, and counterterrorism efforts. Pakistan remains committed to security collaboration with China and ensuring the safety of its citizens and foreign nationals in the country.

Pakistan’s firm stance on these issues underscores its commitment to justice, international law, and peace in the region.
