Russia has expressed a keen interest in expanding cooperation with Pakistan, particularly in the energy sector.
This intent was conveyed by a six-member Russian delegation led by First Deputy Minister of Energy Pavel Sorokin during a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Friday.
During the discussion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its ties with Russia. He emphasized Pakistan’s eagerness to enhance collaboration with Russia in diplomacy, trade, and investment.
The Prime Minister also recalled his productive meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Astana. He reiterated his invitation for President Putin to visit Pakistan.
Highlighting the vast potential for cooperation, Shehbaz Sharif noted that both countries could work closely in the energy sector and other areas of mutual interest.
Expressing gratitude for Pakistan’s hospitality, the Russian First Deputy Minister of Energy thanked the government for the warm welcome extended to him and his delegation.
