Pakistan and China Reaffirm Commitment to CPEC 2.0 Development
Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their dedication to the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0, focusing on key areas such as industrialisation, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), clean energy, agriculture, and livelihood projects.
This commitment was made during the fifth meeting of the CPEC Joint Working Group on International Cooperation and Coordination, co-chaired by Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch and China’s Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong.
The meeting highlighted CPEC’s critical role in enhancing regional connectivity, fostering win-win cooperation, and promoting shared prosperity. Officials also discussed expanding collaborations with other countries to further these goals.
Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening ties in media, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people connections, with a focus on creating a “China-Pakistan Community of Shared Future in the New Era.”
Foreign Secretary Baloch described CPEC as the “cornerstone of China-Pakistan economic cooperation” and a powerful symbol of the enduring friendship between the two nations.
Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong stressed the interconnectedness of the five corridors under CPEC 2.0—growth, livelihood, innovation, open, and green—which align with Pakistan’s national development priorities in exports, e-governance, energy, environmental sustainability, and equity.
Both sides reiterated their shared vision for the successful, high-quality implementation of CPEC projects to drive long-term economic growth and regional stability.
