Official anticipates stronger Pak-US relations.

KARACHI:
A federal government official stated on Wednesday that the exchange of positive diplomatic gestures between Pakistan and the new US administration regarding the extradition of a wanted ISIS commander to Washington could significantly strengthen bilateral relations.

US President Donald Trump personally expressed gratitude to Pakistan for the arrest and extradition of the ISIS commander, who was allegedly involved in planning the Kabul Airport attack. The official described this development as a significant step toward solidifying ties between the two nations.

Following Trump’s acknowledgment, US National Security Advisor Michael Waltz contacted Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar via telephone. Both sides agreed to work on enhancing bilateral relations, marking the start of formal diplomatic engagement between Pakistan and the Trump administration.

The official emphasized that Pakistan would continue discussions with the US on all matters based on a balanced and equal approach, in line with its foreign policy. Diplomatic sources expressed optimism that high-level officials from both countries would engage in meaningful dialogue.

It is anticipated that the foreign ministries of both nations will coordinate a schedule for future meetings. Key topics of discussion are expected to include counterterrorism efforts, trade relations, and other mutual interests. This development is seen as a positive step toward fostering stronger cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.
