North Korea Launches Cruise Missiles, Pledges Firm Stance Against US

North Korea successfully tested strategic cruise missiles on Saturday, as reported by state media KCNA. The launch, supervised by leader Kim Jong Un, involved underwater-to-surface missiles traveling 1,500 kilometers and striking their targets after flying for approximately 7,510 seconds.

In a separate statement, North Korea’s foreign ministry vowed to take its “toughest counteraction” against the United States, accusing Washington of undermining Pyongyang’s sovereignty. The ministry blamed joint US-South Korea military drills for escalating tensions in the region.

Kim Jong Un emphasized strengthening North Korea’s military power to safeguard lasting peace and stability. The test is part of broader efforts to bolster national defense in response to evolving regional security dynamics.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff later confirmed North Korea fired several cruise missiles toward waters off its west coast on Saturday afternoon. This follows an earlier hypersonic missile test earlier this month, showcasing North Korea’s continued development of advanced weapon systems.
