New Oil and Gas Reserves Discovered in Sindh’s Shah Bandar Block

Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has announced the discovery of new oil and gas reserves in the Shah Bandar block in Sindh’s Sujawal district. The discovery was confirmed through a formal communication to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).

The Jhamp East X-1 well in the Shah Bandar block is producing 10 million standard cubic feet of natural gas per day (MMSCFD) and over 150 barrels of light oil daily. The gas, with a pressure of 2,800 pounds per square inch (PSI), is being processed at the Sujawal gas plant and integrated into the Sui Southern Gas Company’s system, boosting the region’s natural gas supply.

The Shah Bandar block involves a consortium of stakeholders, with PPL holding a 63% stake, Mari Petroleum 32%, and Sindh Energy Holding and Government Holdings (Private) Limited each owning 2.5%.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged authorities to ensure a continuous and reliable gas supply for domestic consumers during the winter season, stressing the importance of addressing gas availability issues and reforming the supply system.
