National Assembly Condemns Israeli Atrocities and Calls for Immediate Action on Gaza
ISLAMABAD — The National Assembly passed a resolution on Monday, unanimously condemning the ongoing atrocities committed by the Israeli regime in Palestine and expressing deep disappointment over the international community’s failure to intervene effectively and stop the Israeli aggression.
The House expressed strong outrage over Israel’s latest military offensive, which resumed on March 18 and has led to the deaths of 1,600 Palestinians, pushing the total death toll in Gaza to more than 65,000. The resolution condemned the destruction of vital infrastructure, including homes, hospitals, schools, and places of worship, due to Israeli airstrikes.
Affirming solidarity with the Palestinian people in their fight for self-determination and their right to live in their homeland, the National Assembly criticized the continued inaction of the global community in halting Israeli violence. The resolution called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, as well as the continuous delivery of humanitarian aid to those suffering in Gaza.
The Assembly demanded the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2735 (2024). The resolution also urged the international community to take meaningful steps toward recognizing Palestine as a full member of the United Nations.
Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, who moved the resolution, recalled October 7, 2023, as a dark day in history, marking the start of Israel’s brutal offensive against Palestinians, particularly those in Gaza. He expressed sorrow over the silence of certain global powers in the face of clear violations of international law, warning that history would remember those who failed to act.
Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Chairman of the Sunni Ittehad Council, condemned the role of some Muslim leaders in facilitating the suffering of Palestinians. Federal Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal suggested two key initiatives: relocating Palestinian children to Pakistan for education and offering medical treatment to the injured in Pakistan.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali emphasized the scale of devastation in Palestine, citing UN estimates that it could take years to clear the debris caused by the violence.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, in his closing remarks, expressed regret over political point-scoring during the discussion of such a serious issue.
