MrBeast Enters the Race to Acquire TikTok with Official Bid
YouTube star Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson has officially joined the competition to purchase TikTok after the platform narrowly escaped a U.S. ban.
On January 19, TikTok was at risk of being shut down in the U.S., with a deadline imposed by former President Joe Biden for ByteDance to divest its shares or face restrictions. However, TikTok was temporarily spared when President Donald Trump issued an executive order, preventing the shutdown.
On January 20, MrBeast posted a TikTok video from a private jet, revealing he was en route to submit an official bid for the app. “TikTok, I’m on a private jet right now about to make my official offer for this platform,” he announced. “I might become your new CEO. I’m really excited.”
While the specifics of his bid remain undisclosed, MrBeast’s announcement has excited his vast fanbase. As the most-subscribed YouTuber, the possibility of him owning TikTok has created a stir across social media.
Earlier in January, MrBeast had teased his interest in acquiring the app. On January 14, he mentioned being in talks with several billionaires about the potential purchase, and by January 15, he confirmed that an official offer was on the table, declaring, “I mean business.”
As TikTok’s future remains uncertain, MrBeast’s potential acquisition could mark a monumental shift for the platform and its millions of users. Fans are now eagerly awaiting the results of this bold move by one of the internet’s leading influencers.
