Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has shared his thoughts on the upcoming India-Pakistan match in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, predicting that Pakistan will have the advantage. The highly anticipated match is scheduled for February 23, 2025, at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Amir pointed out Pakistan’s recent success against top teams, including their victories over Australia and South Africa, as proof of their strength, especially in foreign conditions. He believes these performances position Pakistan favorably against India. While recognizing India’s strong record in ODI World Cups and other major tournaments, Amir mentioned the added pressure on India due to recent challenges. He also stressed the crucial role of Jasprit Bumrah, noting that India’s bowling attack would be significantly weakened if he is unavailable.
“If Bumrah isn’t fit, it will be a huge setback for India,” Amir remarked, referencing the Indian pacer’s importance.
Pakistan’s history in the Champions Trophy against India is mixed, with two wins out of five encounters, including their most memorable victory in the 2017 final. Amir played a pivotal role in that match, taking key wickets like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shikhar Dhawan.
The 2025 Champions Trophy will feature eight teams and 15 matches, taking place from February 19 to March 9 across various venues in Pakistan and Dubai. Pakistan, India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh will compete in Group A, while Group B includes Afghanistan, South Africa, England, and Australia.
With the tournament set to begin on February 19, fans are eagerly awaiting the India-Pakistan clash, one of the most anticipated events in world cricket.
