Meta has announced a new initiative to test eBay listings on Facebook Marketplace in Germany, France, and the United States. This trial will allow buyers to browse eBay products on Marketplace and complete purchases directly on eBay.
The move aims to expand Marketplace’s offerings, giving eBay sellers the opportunity to reach Facebook’s extensive user base, while Marketplace users will gain access to a broader selection of products from eBay’s platform.
This development comes amidst ongoing scrutiny of Meta’s Marketplace operations. In November, the European Commission fined Meta $840 million for anti-competitive practices, accusing the company of favoring its own services on Marketplace. Meta is currently appealing the fine and working to address the concerns raised by the Commission. The European Commission has not yet commented on Meta’s new initiative.
