Billy Crystal Reflects on Heartbreaking Loss in LA Wildfire
Legendary actor and comedian Billy Crystal recently opened up about a devastating loss he experienced during the California wildfires, describing it as one of the most difficult moments of his life.
The Hollywood icon revealed that his Los Angeles mansion was destroyed in the disaster, leaving him with an overwhelming sense of grief.
Speaking to People magazine, Crystal shared the emotional toll the tragedy has taken on him and his wife, Janice.
“It’s a heavy time for us,” he admitted. “We’ll be celebrating 55 years of marriage in June, and we’ve been through many challenges, but this is by far the hardest thing we’ve ever faced.”
Despite the heartbreak, the Here Today director expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of his loved ones.
“We’re getting through it thanks to our incredible family,” he said. “Our daughters have been amazing, and every day, we take small steps forward.”
Crystal is not the only celebrity affected by the wildfire. Other stars, including Paris Hilton, reality TV couple Spencer and Heidi Montag, and Schitt’s Creek actor Eugene Levy, also suffered property losses in the blaze.
Reflecting on the widespread destruction, the When Harry Met Sally star described the experience as truly devastating.
“Watching everything we built—where we raised our children and made so many wonderful memories—disappear in the flames was heartbreaking,” he said. “No words can fully capture the scale of the loss we are witnessing.”
