King Charles and Queen Camilla Share Heartfelt Moment with Pope Francis
King Charles and Queen Camilla experienced a deeply emotional moment during their private audience with Pope Francis at the Vatican. The couple was invited for a surprise visit, and on Thursday, the King’s office released a special message marking the occasion.
The meeting, which took place after a prior cancellation due to Pope Francis’ health, was a significant moment for the royal couple. A photo from the intimate 20-minute session was shared, along with a message commemorating the historical encounter.
In the message, written in both Italian and English, it read: “Che occasione speciale!” meaning “What a special occasion!” It continued, “A special moment for Their Majesties as they privately met His Holiness Pope Francis at the Vatican yesterday. The King and Queen were deeply touched by The Pope’s kind remarks about their 20th wedding anniversary and honored to share their best wishes with him in person.”
The Vatican also issued a statement, mentioning that Pope Francis extended his “best wishes” to the royal couple as they celebrated their 20th anniversary.
Originally, the royal couple had planned an official visit to The Holy See, but the schedule changed after doctors advised the Pope to rest following his 38-day hospital stay, which was prompted by health issues, including pneumonia.
