Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has called for strong action against those responsible for orchestrating the May 9 attacks on military facilities across Pakistan. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the seasoned PML-N leader expressed dissatisfaction with the delays in delivering justice to those involved in the violent events.
βAs many as 25 individuals were sentenced today for their involvement in the May 9 riots. The prolonged delay in justice has only empowered their supporters,β Asif remarked.
He further voiced concern over the individuals being celebrated, whom he claimed had dishonored the sacrifices made by the nation’s martyrs and veterans. Asif emphasized the importance of holding the masterminds accountable in order to prevent future violence.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a statement on Saturday, labeling the May 9 violence as politically driven and one of the darkest moments in Pakistan’s history. The ISPR stressed that the convictions were based on undeniable evidence, underscoring the seriousness of the events.
