Defence Minister Khawaja Asif expressed his confidence that the upcoming verdict in the £190 million case would be based on solid evidence. Speaking to the media in Sialkot, Asif stressed that the funds should rightfully belong to the government and the public.
He accused the PTI government, led by Imran Khan, of misdirecting the money to private business accounts rather than depositing it into the national treasury. This, he claimed, was allegedly done through approvals issued in sealed envelopes.
Asif also condemned what he described as the unprecedented level of corruption during the PTI government’s tenure.
Earlier in the day, the defence minister hosted a lunch to celebrate the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy-winning cricket team. He also expressed his commitment to addressing the issues facing Sialkot’s cricket stadium, assuring that he would collaborate with the Punjab government to find solutions.
