Kasur Van Accident Claims Eight Lives, Injures Two
KASUR: A tragic accident in Kasur claimed the lives of eight people, while two others sustained critical injuries when their van plunged into a ravine on Friday.
The incident occurred near Khara Morr on Raiwind Road. The victims, part of a musical group, were returning from an event in Raiwind when the unfortunate crash took place.
According to rescue officials, the accident happened when the vehicle lost control and veered off the road, crashing into a water-filled ditch. Preliminary findings suggest the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, leading to the mishap.
Emergency response teams swiftly arrived at the scene, transferring the deceased and injured to Bulleh Shah District Hospital. Hospital authorities confirmed that both injured passengers remain in critical condition.
Police have launched an investigation into the accident and are working to identify the victims.
Meanwhile, road accidents continue to take a heavy toll across Punjab. According to a report by The News, at least 18 people lost their lives, and 1,496 others were injured in 1,306 road accidents across the province in the past 24 hours. Among them, 612 critically injured individuals were taken to hospitals, while 884 people with minor injuries received medical assistance on-site from rescue teams.
