The Sindh Home Department has enforced Section 144 in Karachi for two days, from December 31, 2024, to January 1, 2025, in order to uphold law and order during the New Year celebrations.
An official notification released on Friday specified that the ban includes celebratory aerial firing and the use of fireworks. This measure is aimed at preventing accidents, injuries, and fatalities that frequently occur from such activities during the festivities.
Authorities have issued a reminder to the public about the dangers of reckless firing and mishandling fireworks, which often result in harm during the New Year celebrations.
By enforcing Section 144, the government intends to ensure the safety and security of Karachi’s residents as they usher in the new year.
