“Karachi Braces for Single-Digit Temperatures Amid Persistent Cold Wave”

Sindh Faces Extended Cold Wave with Temperature Drop Predicted in Karachi

The cold wave currently gripping Karachi and rural Sindh is expected to persist for the next 10 days, with temperatures forecasted to drop further, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

In Karachi, temperatures are predicted to hit single digits in the next two to three days, accompanied by intermittent gusty winds during this chilly period.

In rural Sindh, especially in districts like Tharparkar and Umerkot, the minimum temperatures could fall as much as 6°C below normal, officials stated.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz attributed the cold wave to northeastern winds originating from Balochistan. However, he noted that a shift in weather patterns might bring relief. “Once the sea breeze resumes, temperatures will increase, reducing the intensity of the cold,” he explained.

Earlier this week, Karachi recorded its coldest night of the season, with the temperature dropping to 8.9°C at Jinnah Terminal on Sunday night, according to the PMD. Other areas, such as Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Shahrah-e-Faisal, reported temperatures of 10.5°C and 11.5°C, respectively, while Mauripur recorded a low of 12.5°C.

Currently, Karachi’s weather is cold and dry, with daytime temperatures expected to reach up to 27°C.
