Julia Roberts’ Thriller After the Hunt Set for Fall 2025 Release
Amazon MGM Studios and Imagine Entertainment’s highly anticipated thriller After the Hunt, directed by Luca Guadagnino, is scheduled for release later this year. According to Deadline, the film will have a limited theatrical debut on October 10, followed by a nationwide rollout on October 17.
Starring Julia Roberts, the film follows a college professor whose life is thrown into turmoil when a promising student, played by Ayo Edebiri, accuses a faculty member—portrayed by Andrew Garfield—of misconduct. As the controversy unfolds, the professor is forced to confront a long-buried secret from her past.
The ensemble cast also features Michael Stuhlbarg, Chloë Sevigny, Lío Mehiel, Thaddea Graham, Will Price, Christine Dye, and Burgess Byrd. Stuhlbarg, a frequent collaborator of Guadagnino, adds further depth to the film’s dynamic lineup.
Given Guadagnino’s track record of showcasing films at prestigious festivals—such as Bones and All and Queer at the Venice Film Festival—there is speculation that After the Hunt may premiere at a major fall festival before hitting theaters.
The film’s nationwide release on October 17 places it in a highly competitive box office weekend, where it will compete with Universal and Blumhouse’s The Black Phone 2 and Lionsgate’s Good Fortune, directed by Aziz Ansari and featuring Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, and Keke Palmer.
Nora Garrett penned the screenplay for After the Hunt, with Luca Guadagnino, Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, and Allan Mandelbaum serving as producers.
