Egypt and Jordan Reject Forced Displacement of Gazans

CAIRO: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II voiced strong opposition on Wednesday to the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, a proposal recently suggested by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Responding publicly for the first time to Trump’s comments, Sisi emphasized that forcibly removing Palestinians from their land would be an “injustice” that Egypt cannot support.

In a press conference in Cairo alongside Kenyan President William Ruto, Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s long-standing stance in support of the creation of a Palestinian state, declaring, “This position can never be compromised.”

Despite this, Sisi expressed Egypt’s willingness to work with President Trump, who has advocated for peace in the region based on a two-state solution. He noted his belief that Trump has the capability to achieve a fair and lasting peace in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, in Brussels, King Abdullah II of Jordan reiterated his country’s firm stance on preserving Palestinians’ rights to remain on their land, emphasizing that this must be ensured through the Israeli-Palestinian two-state solution.
