Comedian Jim Davidson has opened up about his past struggles with drug addiction in a revealing interview with The Telegraph. Known for hosting shows like Big Break and The Generation Game, as well as winning Celebrity Big Brother in 2014, Davidson has previously spoken about his battle with substance abuse.
In the interview, he described his addiction to cocaine, comparing it to an obsession that gave him a false sense of invincibility. “Drugs made me feel like Superman,” he shared, reflecting on how the initial high would quickly fade, leaving him craving more. He recalled a particularly worrying moment at a showbiz party when he was sitting with a nosebleed, on the verge of collapse, but still perplexed as to why Miss World, a guest at the event, chose not to speak to him.
Davidson also discussed his reckless actions during his addiction, which included running drug errands for friends. “I used to take tons of drugs and pick up pills and other substances for my mates,” he revealed. His addiction put immense pressure on his family life, and he admitted to prioritizing drugs over his loved ones. “I didnβt know how to put the brakes on,” he confessed during an appearance on Life Stories with Piers Morgan.
The comedian recounted times when he would consume as many as 250 pills over a weekend. Ultimately, Davidson realized the destructive path he was on and made the decision to quit drugs. His honesty about his past highlights the dangers of addiction and the importance of seeking help to overcome it.
