Jennifer Garner shared her heartfelt feelings about the devastating wildfires that ravaged Los Angeles County, particularly the loss of a dear friend from her community. In a Jan. 10 interview with MSNBC, Garner revealed the deep emotional toll, stating, “I did lose a friend who did not get out in time.” Though she didn’t wish to go into specifics, she acknowledged the profound impact of the tragedy on her church and community.
Garner, 52, also spoke about the overwhelming devastation in her Pacific Palisades neighborhood. She expressed a sense of guilt as her own home remained untouched while many of her friends lost theirs. “I can think of 100 families who lost everything,” she said, adding that the total number of homes lost reached 5,000. Reflecting on her feelings, she wondered how she could help those affected by the fires.
In an effort to provide aid, Garner teamed up with renowned chef José Andrés and his disaster relief organization, World Central Kitchen. Andrés explained that the organization sprang into action just an hour after the fire began, quickly deploying food trucks to provide meals to those affected, including evacuees and first responders. Garner praised the organization’s swift and effective response, saying, “It’s incredible to watch… they just come in and say, ‘We’ve got this handled.'”
