Jaishankar Rules Out Trade Talks Between India and Pakistan
Indian Foreign Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar clarified on Wednesday that no discussions or proposals regarding trade between India and Pakistan are currently underway.
Speaking to reporters at the Indian embassy in Washington during his visit to attend the inauguration of U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday, Jaishankar addressed questions about the state of trade relations between the two neighbors.
“Since last year, there have been no discussions with Pakistan on trade, nor have there been any initiatives from their side,” Jaishankar stated in response to a query about the possibility of resuming commerce.
His comments reaffirm the continued lack of engagement on trade between the two nations amidst ongoing political and diplomatic tensions.
