Israeli Strikes in Gaza Claim Seven Lives, Including Three Children

Seven Palestinians, among them three children, were killed, and several others were injured on Friday following Israeli military strikes in Gaza City and Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, according to medical sources.

The casualties included five Palestinians, three of whom were children, who lost their lives when an Israeli airstrike targeted a residential apartment in the al-Tuffah neighborhood of eastern Gaza City. The wounded and the bodies of the victims were rushed to Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in central Gaza City, the sources confirmed.

In a separate incident, Israeli artillery shelling in the town of Abasan, located in eastern Khan Younis, resulted in the deaths of two Palestinians and left several others injured.

These latest attacks are part of a broader escalation that has shattered a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that had been in place since January. Since Tuesday, Israel’s aerial campaign in Gaza has claimed the lives of over 700 Palestinians and injured more than 900.

The ongoing conflict, which began in October 2023, has inflicted devastating casualties on the Palestinian population. Nearly 50,000 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have been killed, and over 112,000 have been injured in what has been described as a brutal military onslaught by Israel.

In November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, charging them with war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over its military actions in the enclave.

The recent violence has further exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, drawing international condemnation and calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
