Israel targets Huthi positions in Yemen

Israel launched airstrikes on Huthi targets in Yemen on Friday, targeting a power station and coastal ports, as part of its response to missile and drone attacks. The strikes followed a series of retaliatory actions after Huthi rebels, backed by Iran, fired missiles and drones at Israel since the Gaza war began in October 2023. These attacks were reportedly intended to express solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. Israel’s military action came after the interception of two drones believed to have been launched from Yemen the previous day. “A short while ago, fighter jets targeted military assets belonging to the Huthi terrorist regime along the western coast and inside Yemen,” the Israeli military stated.
