Islamabad Art Gallery Showcases ‘Beyond Façade’ Exhibition

ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad Art Gallery (IAG-F9) hosted Beyond Façade, a compelling exhibition that explores the evolution of contemporary Pakistani art. The event took place at the gallery’s venue in F-9 Park, drawing artists, academics, and art enthusiasts alike.

The exhibition was formally inaugurated by Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), highlighting the significance of artistic expression and cultural engagement within both academic and public domains. Distinguished guests included Professor Dr. Qaiser Abbas, Vice Chancellor of Sargodha University, and Professor Dr. Hassan Sher, Vice Chancellor of Swat University, reflecting the strong link between higher education and the promotion of artistic endeavors.

Beyond Façade provided an insightful exploration of Pakistan’s diverse artistic narratives, challenging conventional boundaries and offering fresh perspectives on identity, society, and culture. The exhibition encouraged visitors to look beyond superficial appearances and connect with the deeper emotions and stories embedded in each piece.

The showcased works were created by artists affiliated with leading academic institutions, including the National College of Arts, Punjab University, Sargodha University, Lahore University, Cadet College Chakwal, Rawalpindi Women University, and Hunerkada College of Visual Arts. Their creations blended artistic innovation with intellectual depth, reinforcing the role of academia in shaping contemporary art.

Curated by Farrah Mehmood Rana and Amna Shah, the exhibition highlighted the dynamic interplay between tradition and modernity in Pakistani art. The carefully selected pieces offered a unique perspective on the country’s evolving artistic landscape.
