In an interview with NBC News, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian categorically denied that Iran had any involvement in a plot to assassinate Donald Trump during his election campaign last year. This statement came days before Trump was set to return to the White House. Pezeshkian emphasized that the allegations were part of foreign schemes, particularly from Israel and other nations, designed to stoke fear of Iran.
Pezeshkian also addressed ongoing tensions with the United States over the Iranian nuclear issue. He accused the U.S. of attempting to destabilize Iran, while maintaining that Iran had adhered to its nuclear commitments, contrary to the actions of the U.S. and its allies.
Regarding the situation in Gaza and a potential U.S.-Israel military strike on Iran, Pezeshkian warned that Iran would defend itself against any attack. He reiterated Iran’s support for peace efforts in the region, particularly regarding the ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas, despite the ongoing violence in Gaza.
