Indonesia’s Acting Consul General, Teguh Wiweko, has emphasized Pakistan’s importance as a key partner in the global palm oil trade. At the Indonesia-Pakistan Seminar on Palm Oil 2025, Wiweko underscored that over 80-90% of Pakistan’s palm oil imports come from Indonesia, highlighting the strength of their bilateral trade relations.
The seminar, themed “Strengthening Sustainable Palm Oil for the World,” aimed to challenge misconceptions about palm oil and focus on its potential as a sustainable resource. Industry experts and stakeholders, including the Indonesian Palm Oil Association and Pakistan’s Palm Oil Suppliers Association, joined forces to discuss the future of palm oil production, sustainable practices, and the environmental impacts of the industry.
Wiweko praised the workshop’s efforts to promote scientific discussions that debunk myths surrounding palm oil, advocating for better understanding of its benefits. Key issues addressed included the stagnation in production, rising consumption, and strategies to ensure sustainable supply chains, reduce deforestation, and preserve biodiversity.
The seminar, held just before the annual Pakistan Edible Oil Conference, further solidified the collaboration between the two nations in advancing the sustainable palm oil sector.
