Imran Khan Highlights Election Fraud Concerns in Third Letter to Army Chief

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has sent a third open letter to Army Chief General Asim Munir, expressing concerns over alleged electoral fraud in the 2024 general elections.

The announcement was made by Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, during a media briefing outside Adiala Jail. He was accompanied by other members of Khan’s legal team.

According to Chaudhry, Imran Khan has shared the letter’s contents with PTI leadership, outlining six key issues. The letter addresses the necessity of structural reforms, the negative impact of government policies on democracy, and other critical matters.

Reaffirming PTI’s stance, Chaudhry stressed the party’s demand for a judicial commission to probe the events of May 9. He also alleged that police operations in Punjab were still ongoing despite the passage of time. Additionally, he claimed that PTI workers in Wazirabad were prevented from performing funeral rites for a deceased party member.

Chaudhry further revealed that Khan and other PTI leaders appeared in court for the GHQ case. He announced that PTI had appointed Aamir Dogar as a representative in the opposition’s negotiation committee and that new members would soon be added to the party’s political committee, with an official notification expected later in the day.

Raising concerns about restrictions on legal access, Chaudhry stated that ILF President Intizar Panjotha was barred from visiting Adiala Jail. He also pointed out that lawyers faced difficulties attending jail trials, while journalists were selectively permitted to cover proceedings.

PTI plans to request an open trial for the GHQ case, citing judicial fairness concerns following the 26th Amendment. In his letter, Imran Khan will highlight alleged election fraud, claiming that minority interests were unfairly prioritized over the majority through manipulation.

The letter also accuses the government of facilitating money launderers and warns of escalating terrorism due to weak rule of law. Khan is expected to discuss the large-scale emigration of 1.8 million Pakistanis and the outflow of $20 billion in capital from the country.

Additionally, he will criticize alleged judicial interference, arguing that the courts are being influenced to suppress PTI. He will reference Pakistan’s position on the World Project Index, where it ranks 140th.

Addressing internal party matters, Chaudhry clarified that PTI would issue an official statement regarding Sher Afzal Marwat’s status, emphasizing that it was an internal party affair.

Meanwhile, security sources denied receiving any letter from Imran Khan to the Army Chief, dismissing the allegations as baseless. They reiterated that political discussions should take place among politicians rather than involving the military.
