Imran Khan Expresses Frustration Over Pakistan’s Cricket Defeat, Criticizes PCB Leadership
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan, founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has expressed deep frustration over Pakistan’s poor performance in the ICC Champions Trophy. His sister, Aleema Khan, shared on Tuesday that he believes appointing individuals based on recommendations rather than merit is damaging the nation’s cricket.
Following her meeting with the PTI leader, Aleema spoke to the media, revealing that Imran Khan was particularly upset over Pakistan’s recent defeat. She mentioned that he had watched the match on PTV and was visibly disappointed, stating, “His anger today was directed at cricket.”
Khan specifically criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, blaming his leadership for the decline in the team’s performance. He argued that poor appointments within the PCB were harming Pakistan’s cricketing future.
Aleema further quoted Imran as saying that Naqvi holds multiple influential positions, more than anyone else in Pakistan. He questioned Naqvi’s cricketing expertise, stating that under competent leadership, a chairman would have stepped down following such disappointing results.
Addressing concerns about his health, Imran Khan dismissed rumors of any serious illness, clarifying that only PTI officials should comment on his well-being. Aleema reassured the media that he was in good health, had recently spoken to his children, and had no health-related issues.
She also refuted claims made by PTI leader Qasim Khan Suri, who is currently abroad, suggesting that reports from unnamed sources often differ from reality.
