Hoda Kotb bid an emotional farewell to the Today show on her final day, marked by champagne, heartfelt speeches, and plenty of tears.
Known for her playful morning TV moments with Kathie Lee Gifford, Kotb celebrated her departure with the Today show crew and a live audience in Seth Meyers’ studio, which provided ample space for everyone to join in the festivities. The lively atmosphere was filled with music, dancing, and many hugs, as Kotb made her rounds, posing for photos with the staff.
The farewell included speeches from Kotb, her co-host Jenna Bush Hager, Today executive producer Talia Parkinson Jones, and NBC News EVP Libby Leist. The moment was also emotional as Kotb tearfully thanked her colleagues and viewers, saying, “Can I just say thank you? I haven’t been able to articulate it, because I’m a mess most times, but I just want to say thanks.”
Adding to the emotional send-off were special surprises, including a gift from Jamie Lee Curtis, a visit from gymnast Simone Biles, and a video message from Oprah Winfrey. Kotb’s daughters, Haley and Hope, also shared in the bittersweet moment.
