Hamas to Release Three Israeli Hostages in Exchange for 183 Palestinian Prisoners
JERUSALEM – Hamas has announced plans to release three Israeli hostages on Saturday as part of the ongoing prisoner exchange under the Gaza ceasefire agreement. In return, Israel will free 183 Palestinian prisoners from its jails.
According to a statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, an Israeli delegation will travel to Doha for further ceasefire negotiations once the swap is completed.
The exchange takes place amid growing controversy over former U.S. President Donald Trump’s suggestion of a U.S. administration in Gaza, which has sparked strong reactions across the region.
Hamas has identified the three Israeli hostages as Eli Sharabi, Or Levy, and Ohad Ben Ami, with their names later confirmed by Netanyahu’s office.
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club, an advocacy group, reported that out of the 183 Palestinian detainees set for release, 111 were arrested following Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which triggered the ongoing conflict.
