Pakistan to Announce Lower Electricity Tariffs Soon: Finance Minister

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has revealed that the government will soon announce a reduction in electricity tariffs.

Speaking to Bloomberg on the sidelines of the Boao Forum in China, he stated that the upcoming budget aims to expand the tax base by incorporating sectors like real estate, retail, and agriculture.

Aurangzeb also shared Pakistan’s plan to issue its first Chinese Yuan-denominated bond, valued between $200 million and $250 million, to support climate-related initiatives.

Emphasizing the need for financial diversification, he highlighted the importance of exploring funding sources beyond the U.S., Europe, and Islamic Sukuks.
