On Monday, General Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), visited Peshawar to meet with political leaders from various parties in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ongoing efforts to ensure peace and security in the region.
During the discussions, General Munir emphasized that while adversaries may attempt to instill fear and instability, Pakistan’s security forces remain steadfast and will take decisive action against any efforts aimed at disrupting the nation’s peace. The army chief’s message was clear: there will be no retreat.
Upon his arrival in Peshawar, General Munir was warmly received by the Corps Commander. He was given a detailed briefing on the security situation in the region, particularly the ongoing counterterrorism operations targeting the extremist group “Khawarij” and other security threats.
General Munir expressed his appreciation for the sacrifices made by the Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies in their fight against terrorism. He noted that significant progress had been made in weakening terrorist organizations, including the elimination of top leaders and the destruction of their networks. This success is a testament to the dedication of Pakistan’s security forces, and the army chief reassured the public that the fight would continue until terrorism is completely eradicated.
Highlighting the critical role of law enforcement, General Munir commended their efforts in preventing attacks and maintaining public order, contributing greatly to national stability. He emphasized that each operation by the security forces reflected their professionalism and readiness.
