FIA raids Nadia Hussain’s home over officer bribery case

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched an inquiry under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) against model and actress Nadia Hussain after she accused an FIA officer of demanding a bribe on social media.

Sources indicate that the FIA Cyber Crime Team conducted a raid at Hussain’s residence as part of the investigation. FIA officials clarified that the individual who contacted Hussain was not an FIA employee but a fraudster who had used the profile picture of an actual FIA officer to impersonate him and demand a bribe.

The actress was informed that the scammer, posing as an FIA official, had used a photo of an officer as his display picture on social media to deceive her. Authorities advised Hussain to report the incident to the Cyber Crime Reporting Center in Karachi. However, instead of following this guidance, she chose to make a public statement on social media.

Under Pakistani law, making unfounded accusations on social media is considered a criminal offense. Consequently, the FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing in Karachi has formally initiated an investigation under the PECA Act.

FIA officials emphasized that no individual should be permitted to spread baseless allegations without evidence. They stated that Hussain’s claims not only contradicted the facts but also attempted to tarnish the reputation of a legitimate institution, which constitutes a serious violation.

In a related development, the FIA Corporate Crime Circle in Karachi recently arrested Atif Mohammad Khan, the former CEO of Bank Alfalah Securities, on March 8 in connection with a Rs540 million embezzlement case. Khan, who is also Nadia Hussain’s husband, was found to have abused his authority as CEO to commit financial fraud.

The FIA’s actions highlight its commitment to addressing both cybercrimes and financial fraud, ensuring that individuals involved in unlawful activities are held accountable.
