Fantastic Four: First Steps Fixes Past Movie Mistakes

Marvel Studios has officially dropped the trailer for Fantastic Four: First Steps, showcasing a fresh take on the iconic superhero team.

Unlike previous adaptations that struggled to capture the essence of the Fantastic Four, First Steps focuses on their core strength—family.

The trailer teases exciting elements, from Sue Storm’s enhanced force fields to The Thing’s faithful comic-book design. However, the standout aspect is the team’s chemistry. Unlike past versions that depicted them as distant or newly acquainted, First Steps introduces them as a well-bonded unit with firmly established relationships.

A pivotal line from Reed Richards sets the tone: “We make it a point to have family dinner every Sunday at 7, no matter what.” This highlights the warmth and unity within the team, replacing the usual infighting with genuine camaraderie. Whether it’s Reed and Sue’s well-developed romance or Ben Grimm playfully meddling with H.E.R.B.I.E.’s cooking, the film emphasizes their connection.

Previous films, including Fantastic Four (2005), Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007), and the critically slammed Fant4stic (2015), often prioritized dysfunction over teamwork. First Steps takes a different approach, skipping the traditional origin story and presenting a Fantastic Four that already feels lived-in.

That said, some concerns remain. The trailer notably omits any footage of Reed’s stretching ability, leaving fans wondering about the CGI quality. However, with a release date set for July 25, 2025, Marvel still has time to fine-tune the visuals.

Regardless, First Steps signals a promising new chapter—one that, for the first time, might truly honor Marvel’s First Family.
