During a recent local interview, actor Mikaal Zulfiqar found himself in an amusing situation when a bold fan called in to express her feelings for him. The caller, a self-proclaimed die-hard fan, didn’t hold back, saying, “I am a huge fan of his. I want to marry him. Please, tell me how I can make this happen. What should I do?”
Caught off guard, Mikaal burst into laughter before responding to the unexpected proposal. “Look, we can’t really discuss these things over the phone. If we ever meet and sit down together, then we’ll see what to do about this,” he joked. “But I’m truly flattered!”
While this caller turned out to be an enthusiastic admirer, another caller brought up Mikaal’s past connection with model Zara Sheikh. Addressing the question, Mikaal opened up about their early days. “There was a time early in my career when I was very close to Zara,” he admitted.
“I was very young back then, around 20 or 21, and she wasn’t much older either. At the time, she was already a big star,” he shared. “Having grown up in England, I was exposed to a different environment. Zara, on the other hand, was very rooted in Eastern culture, which wasn’t a bad thing—it was just new to me. So, I was quite infatuated with her. There’s no denying that.”
Mikaal revealed that the two had collaborated on several modeling projects. “Unfortunately, Zara didn’t pursue her career as much as she could have. She had so much potential. She had a fantastic voice and was a brilliant singer, especially in the classical genre. Music was truly her strength,” he said.
He added that he had encouraged her to focus on music, though neither of them ultimately pursued it. “She was also a very talented actor,” Mikaal noted. “But, you know, it was a different time. I wish her all the best.”
The 43-year-old actor, who was previously married to model Sara Bhatti before their divorce in 2017, has since expressed little interest in remarrying. In an interview with Wasi Shah last year, Mikaal shared that despite his family’s encouragement, he feels no urgency to tie the knot again.
Recounting a conversation with his family, Mikaal said, “I was visiting the United States, and my father suggested that I could find a foreign woman there to marry,” he shared with a laugh.
He went on to explain that he is content with his life as it is, focusing on his children and personal peace. “I don’t really think about marriage now. I have my kids, and I’m at peace,” he said.
Mikaal’s candid responses during the interview showcased his lighthearted approach to fan interactions and his reflective perspective on past relationships and life choices.
