EU to Hold Special Ukraine Summit on March 6

BRUSSELS:
European Union leaders will convene for a special summit on March 6 to discuss the ongoing war in Ukraine amid growing concerns over U.S. President Donald Trumpโ€™s outreach to Moscow, a senior EU official announced on Sunday.

Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, emphasized the significance of the moment, stating, “We are at a crucial juncture for Ukraine and European security.” He shared the summit date in a post on X, highlighting the urgency of the situation.

Costa noted that discussions with EU leaders had reinforced their “shared commitment to addressing these challenges at the EU level, strengthening European defense, and ensuring lasting security for Ukraine and peace across the continent.”

The announcement comes as European leaders express unease over Trump’s diplomatic gestures toward Russia. Many fear that any potential agreement to end the war could be made without the direct involvement of European nations or Ukraine.
