Dylan O’Brien recently discussed the challenges he faced while transforming his appearance to resemble Dan Aykroyd in Saturday Night, a biopic about the first broadcaster of Saturday Night Live. While promoting his new film Twinless at the Sundance Film Festival, O’Brien spoke with Entertainment Tonight about the differences between the two films.
O’Brien explained that his mustache in Saturday Night was not his own. “They made me wear a fake one for Aykroyd because they said my hair follicles didn’t match Dan Aykroyd’s,” he shared. He added that wearing the fake mustache during the humid Georgia summer was uncomfortable, requiring him to shave to keep it secure. Despite the challenges, he called the experience “an easy, great job.”
The actor, known for Teen Wolf, also confessed that he initially doubted his resemblance to Aykroyd. He didn’t send an audition tape, thinking he didn’t look like the SNL legend, but later realized that “everybody totally looks like their person” when the casting announcements were made.
Saturday Night premiered on September 27, 2024, while Twinless was released on January 23, 2025.
