Controversy sparks over Babar Awan’s jail meeting with Imran Khan

Controversy Erupts Over Unauthorized Meeting Between Babar Awan and Imran Khan

A new controversy arose on Tuesday when Babar Awan, despite not being on the approved visitors list, was permitted to meet Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail. The incident sparked tensions between PTI’s legal team and jail authorities, who had originally scheduled a meeting between Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi.

PTI lawyer Salman Akram Raja confronted jail officials, demanding an explanation for the breach of protocol. **”Babar Awan’s name was not on our list. Why was he allowed in?”** Raja questioned. The PTI Secretary General reinforced that only individuals approved by the party should be granted access, noting that Bushra Bibi had specifically requested the inclusion of Salman Safdar and Usman Gul.

The party further emphasized that the matter of approved visitors had already been settled in the High Court, with only six designated individuals authorized to meet the former prime minister.

Despite these objections, jail administration proceeded to allow Babar Awan, Niazullah Niazi, and Salman Akram Raja to meet Imran Khan, along with Zaheer Abbas Chaudhry, Naeem Haider Panjhuta, and Salman Safdar.

The incident has raised concerns over adherence to judicial directives and the transparency of visitation protocols for high-profile detainees.
