Concerns Grow Over Potential Arson in Santa Monica Amid Los Angeles Wildfires

As wildfires continue to devastate Los Angeles County, claiming at least five lives and destroying over 1,000 structures, concerns have emerged about potential arson in Santa Monica. A video shared by Andrew D. Huberman, a Stanford Medicine professor, shows civilians allegedly setting fires in areas of the city that were not yet burning. Huberman claimed to have witnessed this at 302 Pico in Santa Monica and reported it to the authorities, urging others to report any suspicious activity immediately.

The video quickly went viral, drawing reactions from figures like Elon Musk, who simply responded with “Wow,” amplifying its reach. The incident sparked online debates, with some suggesting that mismanagement of resources and environmental policies could be contributing factors to the fires, although no official confirmation has been made regarding the possible link between the fires and intentional acts.

Amid the growing concerns about arson, the wildfires have already caused massive destruction. Major blazes, including the Palisades Fire, which has burned over 15,000 acres, and the Eaton Fire, covering more than 10,000 acres, continue to wreak havoc. Smaller fires, such as the Hurst and Lidia Fires, are also threatening communities, displacing residents, and putting immense strain on emergency services.

While social media has become a hub for both information and speculation, authorities have yet to confirm any connection between the fires and potential arson. However, they continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately.
