ISLAMABAD: The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) held its 11th Apex Committee Meeting on Thursday to review several key initiatives aimed at supporting Pakistan’s economic growth.
The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, was attended by Chief of Army Staff, members of the federal cabinet, provincial chief ministers, and senior government officials.
The Secretary of the Apex Committee briefed attendees on the strategic focus and contributions of SIFC in advancing the National Economic Transformation Plan 2024-2029, ‘Uraan Pakistan’. The committee expressed satisfaction with the progress made in improving the country’s macro-economic conditions, emphasizing the need for continued collective efforts to sustain economic growth and ensure benefits reach the population.
The committee approved the Action Plan to optimize Special Economic Zones (SEZs) to revitalize Pakistan’s industrial sector. Additionally, the proposal for a National Minerals Harmonization Framework was reviewed, with support from all stakeholders. The forum also discussed various initiatives related to Human Resource Development (HRD), focusing on skills improvement and achieving global accreditation standards. The Chief Ministers shared updates on initiatives in their respective provinces to further boost economic development.
The Chief of Army Staff reaffirmed the army’s full support for the government’s efforts to stabilize the economy and ensure peace and security.
In closing, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the contributions of SIFC, various ministries, and stakeholders for setting a positive direction for 2025 and stressed the importance of collective action at all levels to achieve the country’s long-term objectives.
