COAS Confirms No Letter Received from Any Source

ISLAMABAD:
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir firmly clarified on Thursday that he had not received any letter from anyone and, even if he did, he would not read it. Instead, he stated that any such correspondence would be forwarded to the prime minister.

During an informal discussion with journalists at an event, the army chief dismissed the letter claims as a mere distraction. Although he did not mention any specific individual, his remarks were made in the context of assertions by PTI leadership that party founder Imran Khan had sent two letters to the army chief and was planning to send a third.

“I have not received any letter from anyone. Even if I do, I will not read it. If I receive such a letter, I will pass it on to the prime minister,” Gen Asim Munir stated. “These discussions about letters are nothing more than a diversion,” he added.

PTI lawyer Faisal Chaudhry had earlier revealed that Imran Khan had shared the contents of his third open letter with PTI leaders. The letter reportedly highlights concerns regarding alleged electoral irregularities in the previous year’s general elections.

Chaudhry mentioned that the letter would focus on six key issues, including the necessity for structural reforms, the impact of government policies on democracy, and other pressing matters.

Previously, PTI leadership had confirmed that Imran Khan had addressed two letters to the army chief. Earlier this week, an open letter to the COAS was posted on Imran Khan’s account on the social media platform X, in which he voiced concerns about the prevailing situation in the country.

However, in his conversation, the army chief underscored that Pakistan was progressing positively, with visible development taking place nationwide. “Pakistan is advancing, and it must continue on this path,” he stated.

According to sources, the army chief’s comments reaffirmed the alignment between the government and the military. His remarks indicated strong confidence in the government’s direction and policies, further emphasizing their shared stance on national matters.
