CM Maryam Nawaz Orders Strict Action to Control Inflation in Punjab
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed authorities to launch a strong and effective campaign to combat inflation throughout the province.
She instructed all commissioners and deputy commissioners to take decisive action against price gouging and ensure that official price lists are clearly displayed at markets and shops.
To prevent hoarding and artificial price hikes, the chief minister emphasized the need for strict monitoring of the supply and demand of essential commodities. She directed the Punjab Chief Secretary to oversee the entire campaign, provide daily reports on market prices, and ensure both quality and affordability of food items.
Additionally, Maryam Nawaz ordered deputy and assistant commissioners to keep a close watch on the prices of bread and flour. She also instructed the Punjab Food Authority to crack down on businesses selling substandard food products.
With Ramadan approaching, the chief minister stressed the importance of keeping fruit and vegetable prices under control. She warned that legal action would be taken against those attempting to exploit consumers by inflating prices during the holy month.
Highlighting the significance of Ramadan as a time of blessings and compassion, she urged the business community to show consideration for low-income families.
Maryam Nawaz also revealed that she is personally monitoring daily food prices through a digital dashboard and assured that no leniency would be shown to those engaging in price manipulation or hoarding during the month of Ramadan.
