Charli XCX Claims First Grammy for ‘Brat’ at 67th Awards Ceremony
Charli XCX secured her first-ever Grammy at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards.
The 32-year-old pop sensation won the Best Dance/Electronic Music Album category for her critically acclaimed album Brat. She triumphed over strong contenders, including Four Tet, Justice, Kaytranada, and Zedd, to claim the prestigious honor.
This win could be just the beginning for Charli this award season, as she has been nominated in eight categories for her groundbreaking pop album. Alongside her victory, she is also in the running for Album of the Year (Brat), Best Dance Pop Recording (Von Dutch), Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (Guess with Billie Eilish), Best Pop Solo Performance (Apple), as well as Best Music Video and Record of the Year (360).
This marks Charli XCX’s first Grammy win, despite having been nominated in 2015 for Fancy, her collaboration with Iggy Azalea. However, she didn’t take home an award at that time.
Reflecting on her nominations, Charli shared her excitement with W Magazine, saying, “My vibe is just wanting to have a good time. Let’s be real, I wasn’t even on the Grammys’ radar last year, so it’s not something I ever expected. The thing is, wherever I am becomes fun anyway, so I’m sure I’ll figure it out.”
With this monumental win, Charli XCX continues to cement her legacy in the music industry.
