Chappell Roan Opens Up About the Dark Side of Fame

Chappell Roan recently spoke about the challenges that come with being a famous pop star, particularly dealing with stalking and privacy concerns.

During her appearance on the latest episode of Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, Roan revealed that after gaining popularity, she started experiencing issues with obsessive fans.

She shared that other experienced pop artists advised her to invest heavily in security, even beyond what feels necessary. “That’s something you don’t realize at first,” said the 27-year-old singer.

Roan admitted that the most unsettling part of fame is knowing that people are always watching. “You don’t realize how many people are keeping track of you when you least expect it,” she explained. “Some people even want me dead.”

The singer was shocked to discover how much personal information fans could access. “People know my flight numbers. They know everything,” she revealed.

Roan reflected on how quickly her fame escalated. She recalled traveling to New York City for the Governors Ball 2024, where only a handful of people recognized her. However, after appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, everything changed.

“When I flew home, someone was waiting for me at my gate,” she recounted.

The singer was stunned, as this had never happened before. “I asked, ‘How did you even get in here?’ And they had my album and other things for me to sign.”

She further explained that the fan had purchased a ticket just to get past TSA and meet her at the gate. When she reached baggage claim, five more people were waiting for her.

“It happened overnight, and since then, it hasn’t stopped,” Roan added, reflecting on the intensity of her newfound fame.
