Bushra Bibi Receives Bail in 32 Cases, Arrest Postponed Until January 13

An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi has granted interim bail to Bushra Bibi, wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, in 32 cases. She is facing charges related to protests that occurred between November 24 and November 27. Bushra Bibi appeared in court on Saturday, where her bail was granted, and the court ruled that she should not be arrested until January 13, 2025.

Her lawyer, Muhammad Faisal Malik, filed the bail petitions for all 32 cases, leading to the court’s decision. The court also instructed the investigating officers to submit the relevant case records.

Special permission was given for Bushra Bibi’s vehicle to enter the court premises, where several prominent PTI leaders, including Simabiah Tahir, and defense lawyer Faisal Chaudhry showed their support. After the hearing, Judge Amjad Ali Shah approved her bail, allowing her to leave.

Earlier, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) extended Bushra Bibi’s protective bail until January 16, 2025. The court also exempted her from appearing in person due to a prior hearing in Islamabad for the Toshakhana case. A two-member bench of the PHC, including Justices Sahibzada Asadullah and Waqar Ahmad, heard the case.

The petitioner’s lawyer, Alam Khan Adeenzai, informed the court that Bushra could not attend due to the Toshakhana hearing, and the court granted her exemption. The protective bail extension was approved, and the hearing was adjourned for further proceedings.
