Buckingham Palace issued an official statement after King Charles was hospitalized amid his ongoing cancer treatment.
According to the palace, the King had to cancel his scheduled engagements, including a planned visit to Birmingham, due to temporary side effects from his medical treatment.
The statement read: “Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, His Majesty experienced temporary side effects that required a brief period of hospital observation. As a result, his afternoon engagements were postponed.”
It further added, “His Majesty has now returned to Clarence House. As a precautionary measure and in accordance with medical advice, tomorrowβs scheduled engagements will also be rescheduled. The King extends his sincere apologies to anyone affected or disappointed by this change.”
The statement also mentioned that King Charles was set to receive Credentials from three ambassadors in the afternoon and had four public engagements planned in Birmingham the next day. He expressed disappointment at missing these commitments.
A spokesperson for the royal family reassured that efforts would be made to reschedule the engagements and conveyed the King’s gratitude to those who had worked hard to organize the visit.
