Brazilian Influencer, 45, Dies Following General Anaesthetic for Tattoo Procedure

Brazilian car influencer Ricardo Godoi has tragically passed away at the age of 45 after suffering a cardiac arrest while receiving general anesthesia for a back tattoo procedure. Godoi, who had over 220,000 followers on Instagram, had traveled to a private hospital in Itapema, Santa Catarina, Brazil, for the procedure.

Prior to the tattoo session on January 20, Godoi posted on Instagram, informing his followers he would be offline until after 4 p.m. However, shortly after being sedated and intubated, he experienced cardiac arrest before the tattooing even began, according to the tattoo studio’s owner. Despite efforts to revive him by a cardiologist, he was unfortunately not saved.

The hospital confirmed that all necessary precautions, including blood tests before the procedure, were taken, and no risks were detected. Godoi had also signed a consent form acknowledging the potential dangers. Known for his passion for luxury cars and business as the CEO of Godoi Premium Group, he often shared moments with his wife, Rafaela Gastaldi, who now mourns his untimely loss.

Medical experts caution that undergoing general anesthesia for tattoos, although increasingly common, poses risks. Anesthesiologist Dr. John Baer emphasized that while the risk of fatal complications has decreased significantly over the years, there are still inherent dangers associated with anesthesia in such procedures.
