Beatles Legend Unveils Surprising Truth Behind Iconic Vocals

Ringo Starr, the legendary drummer of The Beatles, recently revealed an unexpected truth about his vocal abilities in an interview with The Sunday Times. Reflecting on his career, the 84-year-old musician admitted that he always wished he had a different singing voice, mentioning icons like Jerry Lee Lewis as his inspiration.

Starr shared, “I always wanted to be someone else. Like Jerry Lee [Lewis] or someone! I mean, I can hold a tune, as long as it’s in my key.” He acknowledged that his vocals worked for The Beatles because of the exceptional songwriting by bandmates John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

He also praised their songwriting, highlighting how it was a key factor in the band’s success. “That’s what made us. I’d get one song, and a couple of them were really good, you know, With a Little Help from My Friends and Yellow Submarine.” Starr continues to perform these beloved songs on tour, emphasizing their enduring popularity.

Starr credited the band’s songwriting talent as the foundation of their monumental success during their 1960s reign.
