RIYADH:
Arab leaders are set to convene in Saudi Arabia on Friday to oppose U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal for controlling Gaza and displacing its population, according to diplomatic and government sources.
While Arab nations stand united against the plan, divisions persist over the future governance of Gaza and securing financial support for its reconstruction.
Umer Karim, a specialist in Saudi foreign policy, described the summit as one of the most significant in decades concerning the Palestinian issue and the broader Arab world.
Trump’s proposal, which suggested U.S. control over Gaza and the relocation of its 2.4 million residents to Egypt and Jordan, sparked widespread international condemnation.
